“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28, NASB).
Will I even remember how to write when I can focus on writing again? I recently contemplated how detached I feel from my accustomed way of life. Days filled with writing, planning new manuscripts, recording video messages, and more have faded into the past. Yet I’m assured God will restore it all in His perfect timing. The One who enables me to write will help me start afresh because He holds a purpose for my writing and speaking.
The Lord also holds a wonderful purpose for you.
Please join me in reflecting on this past month’s happenings…
THE GLORY OF JESUS
After finishing the book of Jeremiah, I wasn’t too excited to delve into Ezekiel because it contains more details about God’s judgment upon His people, the Israelites. The heaviness of this subject matter can weigh on me. However, it excited me to read Ezekiel 1:28, which reads,
“As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.”
The rainbow symbolizes God’s promise to all mankind: He’d never again destroy the earth with a flood. And regardless of how many times I’ve seen rainbows in the sky, they never fail to delight me. The appearance of glowing colors suspended above speak to me of God’s faithfulness and splendor.
Scripture says the LORD’s glory shines in the same way. Though we can’t see it with our physical eyes, we’ll soon meet the Lord face to face. This world’s heavy circumstances will no longer afflict us when we view JESUS and His radiant glory. He promised to return for us, and He will!
It seems I’d just completed my 2021 ministry prayer calendar when the Lord called me away to teach school. Even though I don’t fully understand His reasoning, I know He maintains a plan and purpose for my writing and speaking. My prayer team continues to pray even though my plans were interrupted for a season, and I remain so grateful for each one of these precious women. (You know who you are—thank you for your faithful, valuable, impactful prayers. God goes before us, leading the way as He deems best.)
CONTACT WITH AN EDITOR
I received excellent feedback from an editor who considered one of my Bible study ideas. She appreciated my title, book content, and writing style, which encourages me to press on with this material. Despite her company’s inability to publish it for various reasons, I’m grateful for her positive review. And I wonder where the Lord is leading me next.
Excitement continues to build as I anticipate the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. I hope to discuss my work with an agent I previously communicated with via e-mail. I’d like to receive her counsel regarding publishing options, and I also look forward to other contacts God already has ordained. May He make my pathway clear, enabling me to reach more women with the truth of God’s Word.
If you love poetry—and even if you don’t—I highly recommend Fran Pasch’s book, Greater Than Gold: Poems That Celebrate a Relationship with God. Her thoughtful expressions have become a treasured part of my time with the Lord, giving a voice to everyday experiences and concerns.
