Heart Stirrings: GOD IS BRINGING ME BACK, JESUS IS, JESUS CAN, A CONFERENCE, & MORE

Dear Readers,

Another month has flown by. And I believe the Holy Spirit has been whispering to me because I keep hearing the same message in a variety of ways. Sometimes my eyes land on the book I purchased last fall at a writers’ conference. At other times, excitement surges as I consider publishing some of my work. Through it all I carry a quiet sense of the Spirit’s voice.

God is bringing me back.

My love for writing and communicating the truth of God’s Word has taken a back seat this first part of 2021—at least in the realm I’m accustomed to.  My plans to write a new Bible study plus a nonfiction book haven’t materialized much beyond the thoughts in my head. I simply haven’t had time to focus on these aspects of ministry.

But God is always working.

As I teach literature and writing to high schoolers, God is sanctifying and purifying me. Changing me. Growing me. Making me more Christlike, God-dependent, and surrendered to His will. I also trust He’s working through me in the lives of my students.

Yet very sweetly, the Holy Spirit keeps assuring me He’s bringing me back to the writing and speaking He planted in my heart. He’s just assigned me elsewhere right now. And when that job is completed, He’ll enable me to dive back into the calling He’s placed on my life.

THE GLORY OF JESUS

Christ is our Creator. I didn’t realize this specific truth of God’s Son creating all things until I researched for another Bible study I was working on. Speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ, Colossians 1:16 reads, “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created by Him and for Him.”

So when I recently came across Jeremiah 32:17, I saw the glory of Jesus. Scripture records Jeremiah’s prayer, which partly states, “Ah Lord GOD! Behold, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power and by Thine outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for Thee.”

Amen.

The Lord Jesus Christ formed you and me. He possessed personal interest in each one of us, and He still does. Let’s never believe the lie that God doesn’t care. HE IS our Creator.

Jesus also holds unlimited power. Nothing perplexes or limits Him. Let’s never lose hope because JESUS CAN.

JOURNEY MAGAZINE

Four of my devotions are included in this month’s issue of Journey Magazine. It seems like yesterday I wrote each piece, and now I gaze at them in print. Glory to God—I rejoice in this opportunity to share His truth with others. 

WRITERS’ CONFERENCE

I usually wait until almost the last minute to decide about attending the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. But it thrills me to share I’ve already registered for this year’s event! Woohoo! God is bringing me back, and I cannot wait. Something special always happens when I travel up the mountain to concentrate on my calling. Lord willing, inspiring words and divine appointments will unfold this time, too. I also pray for fantastic opportunities—will you join me in this prayer?

WOMEN’S LIFE GROUP

God has granted me the wonderful privilege of leading a women’s group at my church. We’ll be discussing each week’s sermon alongside its corresponding Bible verses. I’m excited! The Lord is forming this group, which means special moments will result. I desire to be God’s vessel, filled with the Spirit and poured out for others. Please pray for me in this venture as well. Thank you ever so much.
