Prayer for Our Nation & God’s People

Merciful God & Gracious Father, we humbly offer this prayer on behalf of our nation and Your people. We approach You with differing perspectives, yet we come united in the name of Your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Please have mercy on us.

We’ve sinned so dreadfully in numerous ways, neglecting a proper respect and reverence for You. The fear of God has drastically departed from our country to a widespread degree. And yet, the people of God fear Your holy name.

You are awesome in holiness, almighty in power, abounding in love. We look to You for help in these perilous times because our only hope is Jesus, Your beloved Son. We plead with You to draw our loved ones and others to Christ in these last days. Hear our prayer, O God, adding people to Your kingdom.

Please teach us more about who You are, surrounding us with Your presence.

Increase our faith and grow our desire to walk in Your ways. Strengthen us to lean on Your Word to light our path. Use us as the body of Christ to point others into a right relationship with You through faith in Your Son.

You are the God of all grace and the One Who loves us with an everlasting love. You know us completely, equipping us in these dark days to shine the light of Christ.

Let Your people rise up to the challenges we face—not with human wisdom or knowledge—but filled with the Holy Spirit.

Make us mighty in Christ’s strength. Give us ears to hear and eyes to see beyond the realm of this world because “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12, NASB).

We’re ready for Jesus to return for us in the rapture of the church, but until He comes, we desire to fulfill Your will. Grant us opportunities to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). Embolden our hearts with Your love to seek the lost and introduce them to Christ.

Please protect President Trump, Vice-President Pence, and their families.

Grant our elected leaders wisdom and trust in You. Thank You for using each one to accomplish Your purposes, for You are sovereign. May Your will be done and Your name glorified.

Watch over our upcoming election process, causing righteousness to prevail. Expose corruption and prevent deceit from tampering with the results. Please prevent rioting, squelching acts of hatred and destruction.

Strengthen the American people.

We lift up the pastors in our churches and teachers in our schools, business owners, students, the elderly, police officers, medical personnel, people in the workplace, military men and women, parents and children … families plus the family of God. Supply Your grace and comfort each heart.

Although we don’t understand everything our country is experiencing, and we might wonder whether we even can make a positive impact, we “draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Please answer our prayer according to Your will.
