Refuge, It’s Finished, I’m Excited, & More

Dear Readers,

Though my schedule is packed and the days are full, God exists outside of time. He’s eternal—never in a hurry, never early, never late. The Lord always accomplishes His will exactly on time, and I love the security this truth brings.

Speaking of God’s will, He has clarified we are to remain in our beloved home, which is officially off the market. We are super glad to continue living here, and we know the Lord held a purpose in this experience. Thank you so much for your prayers.

I’m excited to share the latest with you, so please join me for details…

The Glory of Jesus: Refuge

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1, NASB).

The Hebrew word for God in Psalm 46:1 is Elohim, a plural noun. I love that. God is three-in-one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. So we can confidently say, JESUS is our refuge.

  • When we feel worn out, Jesus is our refuge.
  • When we need a safe place, Jesus is our refuge.
  • When the enemy’s arrows head our direction, Jesus is our refuge.

Maybe one of the above scenarios resonates with you. If not, please fill in the blank with your situation. Because in every trial and heartache we face, the Lord Jesus Christ is our refuge. May His shelter sustain and encourage you.

Book Proposal

It’s finished!!!!!!!!! To God be the glory, He enabled me to complete my proposal and send it to various industry professionals. I achieved this goal toward the end of May, and now I continue waiting to see what the Lord has in mind. This Bible study truly remains in His hands.

Thank you for your thoughtful, effective prayers. I plan to keep you posted, and more than anything, I desire God’s will.

Write to Publish Conference

The Lord has opened the door for me to attend the Write to Publish Conference in Wheaton, Illinois. I’m excited! A friend and I plan to fly plus room together, and I’m especially looking forward to meeting some of the faculty members. I’ve interacted with two of them via e-mail, but we’ve never met in person. Others are entirely new to me while several are familiar from previous conferences. It will be terrific to learn from all of them.

Please keep me in your prayers during the conference on June 13-17. I’m not a huge traveler, so I appreciate all prayers in that regard. Also, please pray for the Lord’s guidance toward those He’d have me meet. He holds a plan for this event, and perhaps He’ll connect me with the right publisher for my Acts study. May I walk in step with the Lord. Thank you so much for each prayer.

Grateful: Giving Thanks to God in All Things

I remember the joy of receiving an e-mail last year from the manager for Lifeway Women Bible Studies. Before I knew it, I was writing a lesson on 1 Chronicles 15-16, learning details about the ark of the covenant along with King David’s perspective. Studying and writing on these chapters enriched me, and I trust the Lord will use my lesson to draw many closer to Him.

If you’re looking for a shorter study to use on your own or with a group, I’d love for you to consider Grateful.  It is estimated to be available this August, and you can CLICK HERE for more information.

Speaking Ministry

I am pursuing speaking engagements for the rest of 2023 and into 2024. If you are looking for a speaker for your women’s event, please reach out to me. Also, you can CLICK HERE to access a printable version of my speaking information. Thank you so much!

Journey: Daily Devotions for Women

Seven of my devotions are included in the summer 2023 edition, and for the first time ever, I’m credited as one of the contributing writers. In the past, each writer’s identity remained anonymous, but the leadership decided to add a “Devotional Contributors” section on page 128. I’m honored to be listed, and a brief biography is included. Also, I was delightfully surprised to discover a recommendation for my Heart Stirrings blog on page 127. God is SO good! Please pray God will use this blessing to encourage many more women to join the Heart Stirrings community. Thank you so much!

Until Next Time

From the words of an old hymn by Joseph Medicott Scriven:

What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

May you savor sweet moments with God in prayer until we meet again.

  1. Whatever God’s plans, I know He wants to use you and Mr. Mark in them, and in a big way. I’ll be praying for proposal, conference, writing, and speaking success Ms. Emily. God’s blessings ma’am.
