WORDS, SCRIPTURE, MOMS, VIDEOS, & MY NEW STUDY
Dear Readers,
Spring is blooming: my daffodils are smiling and the grass is growing greener. This time of year bursts with lovely sights, and I’m grateful to look out the window while I write because nature’s beauty inspires me. But even if I had to connect words in an unlovely setting, they’d still form. The Lord has tasked me with words, and I am glad.
Please join me in celebrating what God is doing…
THE GLORY OF JESUS: THE WORD
“Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching” (1 Timothy 4:13, NASB).
Humbly—yet with an undeniable presence—Jesus stood. He read Isaiah 61:1-2, sat down, and “the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him” (Luke 4:20). Perhaps an expectant quiet filled the room, and the Lord followed His reading with more incredible words: “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing” (Luke 4:21).
What did Jesus confidently declare? He identified Himself as the One upon whom the Spirit rested, the One anointed to preach the gospel to the poor, the One sent to proclaim release to captives plus recovery of sight to the blind, the One sent to free the downtrodden and proclaim the favorable year of the LORD (see Luke 4:18-19).
Don’t you love who Jesus is? He doesn’t look down on us condescendingly. Compassion runs through Him. Spirit-filled and anointed, He breaks our chains, restores our sight, delivers us from oppression, and announces God’s favor. All glory to JESUS!
The Lord’s public ministry was marked by words… God’s Holy Word. Jesus is the Word made flesh (John 1:14), the One sent to secure our redemption. We do well to heed God’s instruction to “give attention to the public reading of Scripture” because “the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12).
MOM’S WEEKEND GETAWAY
God surprised me with another wonderful opportunity. I have been asked to speak at Hickory Cove Bible Camp for their Mom’s Weekend Getaway on April 1-3. What a joy to teach women in person again! We’ll focus on biblical principles for Christian moms in three sessions: Crying out to Jesus, Loving & Living Well, and Trusting God with Your Child’s Future. Please pray as I finalize my session notes and prepare accordingly. Thank you so much!
If you’d like to attend this event in Taylorsville, NC, please CLICK HERE for more information via Facebook or CONTACT ME. I’d love to see you there! (NOTE: The registration deadline is this Friday, March 11).
INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS
Praise the Lord, I created two videos for writers last month. The Lord provided just enough time to update and organize my notes plus record both videos by February 28, my promised completion date.
The first video, “4 Elements for Every Devotion,” is designed to assist 5th-6th graders as they write a devotion. I’m so excited for these students! They are blessed to attend a Christian school where this writing exercise is encouraged.
My second video contains information from my writing workshop, “How to Write Devotions That Impact Lives.” Somehow God enabled me to record this class before heading out of town the last weekend of February, which was especially important because one of my tips is to meet your deadlines ☺️.
Please pray as I pursue a way to offer my workshop video for sale. This will mean finding a site where I can upload the video and charge customers for viewing access. Thank you!
MY NEW BIBLE STUDY
Woohoo! I started writing my Bible study on March 2. Thank you for your prayers because it’s amazing how many things can interrupt writing time. But I know God has called me to write this study on Acts, and I’m committed to following through.
It feels so good to be writing another book. And this time around, I hold a much clearer picture of the content. It’s simple yet thought-provoking. In fact, when God outlined the study for me, this description crossed my mind: Just because it’s brief doesn’t mean it’s not deep.
We shall see what God has planned for this study. In the meantime, I need to write, write, write. Every prayer is appreciated.
UNTIL NEXT TIME
Though the world is growing increasingly unstable and volatile, we can rely on God’s Word for comfort, guidance, truth, and more. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8).
