“But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, That I may tell of all Thy works.” Ps. 73:28, NASB
I think it was Christmastime. With two of our children’s December birthdays to celebrate, plus the holiday to prepare for, I. Was. Weary. Fervently I dreaded the distinct possibility of busyness that hindered me from truly appreciating the season. Everywhere I turned, responsibility beckoned. Yet when I turned to the Lord with this passionate plea, oh, how He tenderly heard and marvelously answered me:
BE NEAR ME The world… Is rushing by These days. I want… To hear Your voice This day. Hold me Hush me Still me Stop me… O Lord! Be near me! Sometimes You feel so close Yet many times I’m cluttered… Busy days, exhausted nights Responsibilities And countless activities— My time with You becomes slight. I just want You To break into All plans that I have made. I just want You To speak into The noise so it will fade. “Seek Me” “Find Me” “Call Me” “Hear Me” My Lord! You’re near me.Granted, it’s not Christmas season right now. But most of us probably can relate to summertime busyness what with camps, vacations, sleepovers, and more. Then again, maybe you’re experiencing a different kind of busyness altogether. Whatever the case, does your spirit crave reconnection with the living God? God’s nearness soothingly refreshes and powerfully restores us.
“He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.” Ps. 23:2
“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jer. 29:12-13
God blesses us with His presence in the most intimate of ways. Inviting Him to interrupt our plans, let’s open our hearts to Him anew.

Sweet Andy,
Thank you so much for your kind remarks – I so much appreciate them. God is so good to give me poems when I can’t express myself any other way. Much love to you, and I am really looking forward to our visit.
In Christ’s love,
Emily
