“Honey, I have something for you,” he proudly announced.
Around the corner my sweet Mark appeared–delightedly smiling with flowers in hand. Pleasure filling me, a smile immediately spread across my face. And I’m still smiling as I enjoy their beauty on our dining room table.
Why did my husband’s simple gesture mean so much? Because this small act demonstrated his love for me. In the midst of busyness, Mark thought of me. Tenderly, kindly, joyfully he chose something special and gave it to me. Easily I can purchase flowers for myself, but they’d never possess this bouquet’s value. And it’s not even Valentine’s Day yet!
Just because.
Just because he loves me, my husband expended his time and thoughtfulness–at his expense–for me. What a lovely glimpse and reflection of God’s love for us. Romans 5:8 poignantly proclaims,
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Absolutely I can’t imagine the depth of God’s gift: His PRECIOUS, CHERISHED, SOLITARY Son thoughtfully GIVEN for us … for me. By faith alone in Christ alone, we receive forgiveness for our sins and eternal life.
See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are…” 1 Jn. 3:1
God continually thinks of us and daily expresses His everlasting love. From sunrise radiance to deep rivers–or even shallow streams–of loving family interactions, from His faithful provisions through the day to His songs in the night, God’s loving expressions never cease.
Can you hear Him? See His hand? Feel His touch?
Simply or extravagantly, God reveals Himself–especially to those who seek Him.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Matt. 5:8
Let’s “… lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us…” (Heb. 12:1) so we clearly see the Lord today. Let’s nourish ourselves with God’s Word and enter His holy presence in prayer. Confessing every besetting sin, let’s come clean before our Maker and delight in HIM.
God’s love flows unconditionally, reaching into every crevice of our hearts. It’s not based on our merit or performance. Amazingly God loves you and me …
Just because.
