BUSY, BOOK NEWS, LIFEWAY, & MORE
Yes, Jesus was busy. Why have I never stopped to consider this fact? #Jesus #MinistryUpdate #WritingCommunity Share on XDear Readers,
Somehow summer started. Well, I guessed technically is doesn’t begin until later this month. But the weather feels like summer, schools are finished for the year, and vacations are in sight. With all that in mind—coupled with the commitments on my plate—I intend to keep this update brief.
But first, I want to express how grateful I am that you’re here with me … joining me for another testimony of God’s marvelous doings. Thank you, my friend. So here’s the latest…
The Glory of Jesus: Busy
“And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” Acts 10:38, NLT
Yes, Jesus was busy. Why have I never stopped to consider this fact? Because it truly helps to picture our Lord navigating life. He healed the sick, taught truth, spoke kind words, raised the dead, cast out demons, and much more. Christ spent His life on earth accomplishing His Father’s will, and He never wasted a second.
Every moment was filled with purpose.
Despite Jesus’ busyness, He never failed to spend time with His Father. He also poured into the lives of His disciples, lovingly teaching and training them. It’s hard to comprehend how the Lord fit everything into His schedule, but actually, I don’t think He held a pre-planned schedule. He simply walked in step with the Spirit’s leading, doing everything divinely ordained for His days.
While we benefit from planners and schedules (it’s certainly good to be organized), God is speaking to me about consciously placing every item on my “To-Do List” in His almighty hands each day. And maybe sometimes those items even will change at His direction. Would you like to join me on this venture? If so, I’d love to hear from you. May the Spirit stir us to follow our Lord well, so that we too might complete our lives having fulfilled our Father’s will.
Book News
Edits on Portraits of Prayer are keeping me busy. Though the entire book is written, I’m updating and correcting more than I anticipated. My manuscript must be submitted by August 1, so I’ve planned my schedule accordingly. As I seek the Lord’s strength and help to finish this project with excellence, I’m confident He will see me through.
Please pray for me as the Spirit leads. Thank you so much! May God be glorified in the editing process and final product.
Lifeway
God be praised, I received another Journey assignment. What a huge blessing to continue writing for this wonderful women’s magazine. I contracted to write eight devotions, which are due the first of next year.
As for Homelife, I’m excited to share that the August issue will include another one of my articles. May the Lord use this piece to encourage and help many readers.

My Family
Oh, how I love my family. And my sweet girl is getting married! While this fabulous event has nothing to do with Proclaiming Him to Women, it kind of does. Because life experiences affect us, and in this case, I feel much joy. Yet this special occasion requires planning and doing, which impacts how much time I can spend on writing and speaking. (Preparing my manuscript also impacts my time.) So if it appears I’ve stepped away from videos, podcasts, and social media, that’s not the case. Lord willing, I’ll dive back into all my ministry avenues when God paves the way. I’m not aiming to go anywhere. I just might not create as much content as normal for the next few months. Because I want to soak in every moment and do all this well … for God’s glory, my daughter’s heart (mine too), and my family’s best.
Until Next Time
May the Lord’s love delight and surprise you in new ways.
In Christ’s Love,
Praying you through it all ma’am. God’s blessings.
Thank you so much, J.D., for your valuable prayers! May the Lord bless you richly in return.
In Christ’s Love,
Emily
