Drawing Near: I Am a Christian

“A wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.” 1 Corinthians 16:9, Nasb

Loving Father in heaven,

They said they were Christians. And instantaneously, their lives were silenced like a symphony that ceases in the midst. Some of them were my children’s ages–with lives full of promise and lots of living left to do. Why, oh God? Why are they gone while evil abounds?

I am a Christian.

If I had a gun pointed at me, would I have courage to utter those words?

Time seems ripe for Christ’s return. The world appears to grow increasingly dark–as if that’s possible. And Your people wait. We wait to hear the last trumpet … to be changed … to be with Christ forever.

Lord, come quickly!

But until that time, we trust You in the waiting. You are ever wise and perfect. Just as You sent Jesus “when the fulness of the time came” (Gal. 4:4), so You’ll send Him again when every detail is secured. We long to see our Lord face to face–the love in His eyes and the scars He bears–to experience fully the knowing and being known.

Make us faithful and fruitful while we wait. Use our love for You as a magnet, drawing others toward Christ. Cause people to crave what we have … to long for the ONE who has touched and changed us. Increase our opportunities to share Christ, opening our mouths to speak bold words.

I am a Christian.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

  1. My heart was broken at the tragedy that happened and I too was left considering the question “Would I have been so bold?” 2 Corinthians 13:5 says we should examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith and this was a reminder. I’m so comforted knowing those innocent souls are now with our ever-wonderful God! But so saddened knowing they were put there by hate and evil. Thanks for posting!

    1. Hi Kayla,

Yes, I find much comfort in God’s faithfulness and love despite the evil that exists in this world. Thank you for visiting my blog and commenting. I hope you’ll come again :).

      In Christ’s Love,
      Emily
