Ministry Update: Passion & Present Efforts

Dear Readers,

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High; To declare Thy lovingkindness in the morning, And Thy faithfulness by night” (Ps. 92:1-2, Nasb).

As I reflect on why I do what I do, I’m reminded of something I once shared with a group of co-workers: “I just want to tell women about God.” Today, after putting my pen to paper with this purpose for over ten years, I’m so grateful for the art of writing, which enables me to communicate God’s wonders. HE is worthy of all my devotion, and He loves me like no other. Because of His perfection, I confidently share Him, knowing He’ll never disappoint. He far exceeds my tiny comprehension, and His Word contains jewels for us to discover. He loves to hear from us—to see us seeking Him with all our hearts—and He delights in responding to us.

I’m passionate about stirring hearts toward Jesus.

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7), and “in Him all the fulness of Deity dwells in bodily form” (Col. 2:9).

So…

Like a racehorse leaping from its gate, this year began with a burst. I contacted an agent I met last May and set a deadline for submitting my proposal. Little did I know God had a curve in store. After I received my editor’s feedback—which was good but contained lots of mark ups—the Lord enabled me to face my nagging concern about my manuscript: something just wasn’t right. My prayer team and a dear friend prayed, resulting in God’s amazing response. He poured new book content into me and helped me restructure the format in an incredibly short time. I pretty much wrote for four straight days, finishing my revised proposal and submitting it to the agent on Jan. 29. I don’t know what the response will be, but I’m excited about the material God has given me to share. Please keep praying.

My present efforts center around the Connecting with Christ Conference, scheduled for April 8-9, 2016, at Hickory Christian Academy in Hickory, NC.

I grow more excited as programming develops—Joy Tilton will lead worship, Hannah Rogers and Jackie Perry will lead workshops, and Katie Arensman will share a special message. Women ages 13+ are welcome, so please bring your daughters as we focus on “God’s Character: Truths to Share with the Next Generation.” I plan to promote the event on social media as soon as possible, and your help with this would be so appreciated. Please ‘share,’ ‘retweet,’ and more as you see details about the CCC circulating. (Thank you in advance.) Most of all, please come! Let’s draw closer to Christ and be mobilized to imitate His actions.

A couple more items of interest include this past Thursday at the Harvest Bible Chapel Hickory MOMS group. I taught from Titus 2 and 1 Corinthians 13, and God gave me such peace as I spoke. Wow—what a faithful God we serve. Also, I plan to attend the Asheville Christian Writers Conference at the Cove on Feb. 19-21. I love writers’ conferences, so I thank the Lord for this privilege.

And, oh—one more bit of news. I just contracted with Lifeway to write an article for Journey about God’s redemption of a painful situation in my life. This is a fantastic opportunity to minister to women and convey God’s tender touch. Plus, it will include a brief bio, which will expand the reach of my ministry. Please praise the Lord with me and remember me in your prayers as I submit this story by March 15.

Thank you, thank you as always, my dear readers. If I can ever pray for you, or if you need someone to listen, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

To God be all the glory forever and ever.

In Christ’s Love,

Emily
