Prayer Partners: Trusting in My Shepherd

The LORD is my shepherd…

Gracious God, You are the One who guides me, cares for and protects me…

I shall not want…

You meet me in every desperation, lovingly providing for all my needs.

He makes me lie down in green pastures…

You cause me to rest—physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally—in pleasant places…

He leads me beside quiet waters…

You envelop me with peace that resembles the coolness, the gentle lapping of undisturbed water.

He restores my soul…

You grant me breath—life in my deepest being…

He guides me in the paths of righteousness…

Your direction always remains grounded upon what pleases you, what You deem right…

For His name’s sake…

You enable me to walk aright for the glory of Your holy name.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…

Despite life situations involving oppressive darkness and suffocating sorrow…

I fear no evil…

I refuse to be afraid…

for Thou art with me…

Oh God, Your faithful presence comforts me, emboldening me to face dire depths courageously…

Thy rod and Thy staff…

Using tools of discipline or support…

they comfort me…

You wisely work within, changing my heart and behavior.

Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…

God! You bountifully nourish and nurture me while all who desire my harm witness Your tender, generous provision…

Thou hast anointed my head with oil…

You make me mighty—I rejoice, exulting in Your power…

My cup overflows…

Truly I am blessed beyond measure.

Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life…

Your goodness, love, and kindness closely cover my back—pursuing me my entire life…

And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever…

Until I safely abide in Your glorious home. Forever.
