Prayer Partners: TODAY

Gracious, compassionate, righteous Father,

I come to you in the morning stillness, wondering what Your plans are for this day. Humbly I ask that You allow me to play a part.

“Great are the works of the LORD … Splendid and majestic is His work…” Ps. 111:2 & 3

Being a planner, I never lack ideas of what needs to be accomplished on given days. But Father, Your will exceeds mine. Your purposes excel with productivity and superior value–for You, others, and me. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I might fully walk in Your plans for TODAY.

Allow the stillness of this morning to pervade my hours so I can feel Your prompting, hear Your voice, respond to Your instructions. Yes, I retain numerous responsibilities to fulfill. Yet I long to comprehend Your presence within the routine.

Excitedly, refreshingly, expectantly, I yearn to learn more about Your beauty … TODAY. Not tomorrow or next month or next year. TODAY. Because we don’t know what a day will bring.

“Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” Jas. 4:14

As I wade into this day like one slowly venturing into the surf, please surround me with your encompassing presence. Let me sense Your glory, Your magnificence, Your overwhelming goodness.

“More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…” Phil. 3:8

Renew me with visions of the eternal and an increased understanding that this life simply sets the stage for eternity … WITH YOU. Awaken my heart to know You more … TODAY.

“And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent.” Jn. 17:3

Graciously enable me to touch eternity as I meditate on Your Word and pray. Open my eyes to see Your splendrous majesty. Cause my cup to overflow as I delight in Your divine presence.

Quench my thirsty soul, for You are more to me than life.

In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
