Most Holy God, the one true God, our Father in heaven, humbly we bow our hearts before You. Full of lovingkindness and faithfulness, You restore us. Truly this world offers nothing in comparison to the satisfaction You alone supply. Though it generates many attractions ultimately intended to replace our affection for You, NOTHING equals the delight, the hope, the peace we find in You.
Yet our hearts stray.
We confess our attachment to this world’s trinkets–the shiny baubles that captivate us. Whether it’s entertainment, fashion, food, comfort, etc., we confess our lack of devotion to You. And we cry out for mercy and restoration.
Thank You that despite our periodic unfaithfulness as the people of God, You remain loving, gracious, kind … FAITHFUL. Please revive our hearts, anointing our eyes with Spirit-filled vision. Kindly lead us–Christ’s body–to repentance for worldly ways. Enable us as the church to grow in holiness. Show us what issues affect us personally and set us free so we can genuinely offer hope to those without Christ.
Father, You are good and worthy of all our praise. We lift up Your name and the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. Gratefully we recognize the marvelous ways You’ve used Your people throughout generations, including this one. But we ask for more: More love, more Spirit-led activity … more YOU. Lord Jesus, enrapture us with Your beauty and excellence! Then we’ll become more like You and overflow with the abundant life You came to give.
Boldly we plead with You to strengthen Your church. Sharpen our gaze on You. Strategically position and increasingly use us for Your glory. The fields are white for harvest.* Today.
In Jesus’ Victorious Name, Amen.
