“But you are … A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 1 Pet. 2:9, NASB
An ordinary woman–saved by Christ … beloved of God.
Because of God’s great love for me, I’m passionate about stirring hearts toward Jesus. I teach God’s Word with the firm conviction and personal experience that the Bible is “living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword” (Heb. 4:12).
As a women’s ministry leader from 2001-2004, I realized my love for teaching the Bible. Soon thereafter, God prompted me to write Reaching for Righteousness: Life Applications from the Book of Esther (Pleasant Word, April 2009), which is now available in Spanish. I stay busy writing weekly blog posts and Journey devotions. Some of my blog posts also appear on the ZMI Ministries site. All of these venues grant me the privileged opportunity to share Christ. He IS faithful!
God has allowed me to minister in various ways such as directing retreats, facilitating small groups, teaching, and sharing radio devotions. My third Connecting with Christ Conference, held in April 2016, provided women the joys of worship, Bible teaching, and fellowship. As God provides ministry opportunities, I’m thrilled to go where He leads. Women are being reached with God’s truth–all glory to Him for His work in hearts and lives! (NOTE: In August 2016, God called me to share Christ in Nicaragua with ZMI Family Ministries International. I will travel in March 2017, Lord willing, to introduce Alcanzando la Justicia to women in various places. Please pray for me as I raise fund and prepare teaching material. Thanks!)
My goals for 2016 include obtaining a literary agent and pursuing my dream of traditional publishing. Presently, I’m writing a Bible study that will serve as a discipleship tool for moms and mentors as well as a guide for young women. It will be interesting to see how the year unfolds.
On a more personal note, I grew up in Northern Virginia as the youngest daughter of Christian parents. Deeply grateful for my godly heritage, I’m blessed to have learned God’s Word from an early age. Virginia Tech became my college home in 1987, where involvement with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship introduced me to Mark Wickham. Married since October 7, 1989, we gratefully enjoy our four children–God’s gifts to us. Additionally, Mark serves as pastor of Foothills Church. Enjoying life in western North Carolina, we homeschool two of our children while two sons study at Liberty University.
God has blessed me abundantly, and I’m most thankful for His Son, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Writing and speaking for Him—teaching His Word and thereby impacting women’s lives—fills me with tremendous joy.
